The theater has a full house — the performance by the unique director!
While the audience is taking their seats, I look around: the chairs are arranged in amphitheater rows. A huge screen. In the center — a very small stage.
“As if the spectator matters most here,” I thought.
The lights went out. There was a voice from the upper right corner. All have turned around, but the speaker was invisible. Just the voice, a very strange one — giving us the creeps.
“The performance you are about to watch is unusual.
You are in the theater of life. Everything that happens is not historical events but the inner states of the man. The action takes place inside every person in the process of development of his or her soul.”
The screens turned yellowish like a desert. We saw people.
They were walking across the sands. There were words.
Characters:
PHARAOH — all forms of egoism we are in.
CREATOR — a Higher power of nature that governs everything.
MOSHE (Moses) — part of a Higher power in the man.
YITRO — CORRECTION system in the man that consists of egoistic desires ready to be corrected.
ZIPPORAH — the link between Moshe and Yitro, between a Higher power of nature in the man and Yitro, the CORRECTION SYSTEM.
PEOPLE of ISRAEL — characteristic of a Higher power of nature in the man.
EGYPTIANS — egoistical forces.
“Zipporah, the daughter of the Midianite priest Yitro, brings Moshe to her people.
Says this man saved her in the desert from the attack of Bedouins.
Moshe tells that he grew up in the pharaoh’s palace but left Egypt. And his people, Jews, remain in the Egyptian slavery.
Yitro thanks Moshe, proposes that he marry Zipporah and stay to live with the Midianite tribe.
The latter agrees.”
I reflected on it… The point of good and love in us… Moshe.
Is there a movement in it?
The screens glow dim yellow. We see two figures approaching us.
A young beautiful woman comes on stage. She leads a man by the hand.
I turn to look at the spectators. I am not the only one who is trying to grasp. The fellow spectator seated to my right is also concentrated and self-absorbed.
Zipporah and Moshe’s duet. Or rather, the woman is singing… and the man seems to recite. Moshe sings-narrates. Tells about himself. His voice is weak. He is tongue-tied. But you can feel he has a backbone. This is attractive.
A question immediately occurs to me:
“Where does ‘my’ Moshe lead me?”
Yitro comes out to meet the guests, heartily and kindly welcomes them, but I have a troubled soul:
“How strictly everything is predetermined! The incredible story of Moshe! Born in a Jewish family, as an infant, sent down the river in a basket, saved by pharaoh’s family. Thrown out of Egypt.”
If all that is in me, then my life is not an accident? And every step of mine is necessary for some reason?
Something very important is hidden from us.
This creates suspense. The desire to understand.
Moshe is on stage. He struggles to speak to special music.
However, little by little, his speech becomes clearer.
The recitals are heard more distinctly.
Moshe grows stronger.
He felt the call.
I saw Yitro, carefully and attentively, give Moshe the possibility to summon up enough energy to carry out his mission.
Recall from the libretto: “… the action takes place inside every person.”
Where is it in me?
Moshe and Yitro live inside me. And Yitro in us helps develop our inner Moshe. I wonder if I am the only one who feels it. Looked at the audience — each spectator is all attention.
But how does it all work? How does it begin to move?
At this point, the following caption appeared on the screen:
STAFF — belief in a Higher power supporting the man.
MOUNT SINAI — awareness of rejection and hatred existing between us. The beginning of a journey to the Creator, understanding.
TORAH — supporting and guiding force of Nature.
“Moshe receives the staff from the Creator. He is called upon to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt. Bring them to the Mount Sinai for giving the Torah. Yitro teaches Moshe how to prepare the people for giving the Torah.”
All of a sudden, the bright light got in the eyes — the spotlight illuminated the auditorium. Right among us, in between the rows, Yitro wearing the priest clothing stands. He looks very attentively at the screen, at Moshe, who, with the staff raised high, walks towards Egypt.
On the screen, images quickly follow one another.
The pictures are impressive. The exodus of the people from Egypt, the parted sea, the salvation from pharaoh’s cavalry.
The Creator even gave them food when they needed it most!
Faith helps overcome all trials.
We lack it a lot!
Yitro’s voice sounds like a tocsin. He sings an anthem — about the greatness of the Creator who supports and guides Moshe and the people of Israel. Yitro is impressed with what is happening; he sees the goodness of the Highest governance.
His admiration passes on to me: how wisely everything is designed! If we follow Moshe, who lives inside us, listen to his call, and comply with it — we change. We change our world.
And we hear the words of Yitro’s anthem addressed to Moshe:
“Hold your staff above you.
Start with the corrections to be easily made.
Step by step, get down to what is more difficult.
The correct order of stages.
The weakest ones require just a small correction.
The strongest ones have to correct many things.
And when we act like this — Nature itself helps us.”
He sang — and drew with his hands, in the air, a triangle pointed downward — it is the power of the Creator directed towards us. Then, another one pointed upward— this is our properly organized desires. And the Star of David appeared on the glowing screen! So, that is what it really means!
The most important thing — is to get started. And to move step by step. Each one can do it — but if all together, it is better.
I came to clearly understand it. This is like a baby clambering up a ladder. It climbs one step after another. Not enough strength to lift a leg high, and it falls. But clambers over and over again. And in the end, it reaches the top.
There is silence in the auditorium. The light on the stage went out.
The spotlights illuminated the auditorium.
We didn’t see but rather felt the presence of the director. Oh yes, he did say there was a chance to ask one question. I was coming to my senses. And the audience was silent too. The pause lasted too long.
Finally, a woman’s voice sounded clearly and confidently:
“What does the Yitro system give us? Now, in our lives?”
The director’s voice resonated deeply within me:
“A remedy for any diseases and wars should not be looked for where viruses and weapons are. It is above, at the ‘Man’ stage. That is the place of work. Yitro says: “Start making corrections. To those on the path of correction, ‘plagues’ are not applicable.”
He went silent and then continued:
“Establish, first of all, relations of love and good with your nearest and dearest. Then — with citizens of your town and your country. And so on, until you develop the love for all mankind. As soon as you take the very first step, you will be supported and protected by Nature itself.”
So be it!
